Today I went to the most expected film from the Chennai 28 team, SAROJA. The film was having so much expectation to meet with and I will first itself say that it has met all the expectations that it has created among the public. I missed the first few minutes of the film but I should mention that from the minute I entered the theatre I couldn’t move my eyes off the screen.
The storyline: A group kidnaps a girl called Saroja and the accidental venture of the famous four of the film to rescue the girl.
Such an amazing movie with touches of previous film here and there! You all would remember the song, “Pothi vecha malliga mottu” where radio shiva and vijayalakshmi were picturized in Chennai 28. Similarly, the song, “Aayiram thamarai mottugale” was the highlight of this film and everytime premji gets a new sight, few angels come around and add to the timing comedy.
Shiva has rocked with his timing comedy in the movie. Even in the serious situations, he has made the audience to keenly listen to his dialogs eagerly waiting for a timing comedy from him. The team work of the director Venkat prabhu has been proven once again in this film. Almost a flawless direction has been given for the movie and I’m damn sure that this film will hit the box office hits once again.
SPB Charan has also made a good effort in the movie. The girl saroja can be stated as the heroine but actually there is no heroine as such. The story moves around with a tightly twisted comedy with these four fellows running around a old factory. Yuvan shankar raja has added to the pluses of the movie with his entertaining music and thrilling background score. The movie though can be stated as a THRILLER, cannot be told completely as a thriller because of the comedy sense prevailing all the time. But the comedy has been the biggest plus of the movie. PREMJI has got with his signature dialog in this movie where the “enna kodumai saravanan” is replaced by “evvalavo panrom, idhai panna maatoma”.
As a overall summary to say, this film has been a great relief to kollywood after the most disappointing series of releases like Sathyam, dhaam dhoom, kuselan etc. If you have a friends group and if you have fifty rupees in your pocket and you don’t know what to do, immediately watch out SAROJA. WORTH WATCHING!!
Overall rating : 8/10. (may be slightly over, but due to the frustration caused by the series of releases before, I hope this is worthy rating)
